California AI Workforce Blueprint

Co-design the Blueprint with us.

AI is reshaping California's labor market faster than almost anything our workforce system has faced. Three local boards will each receive $50,000 (paid quarterly) to co-design a practical, field-tested Blueprint and toolkit every board can use. This form is intentionally short — about 10 minutes, no essays. We're also collecting local projects to feature at Meetings of the Minds, whether or not you apply.

What's your local area / board name?

Please add your board name.

Workers

What changes is AI bringing to workers and the kinds of jobs in your area? A few sentences — there are no wrong answers.

A sentence or two, please.

Businesses

How are local employers using — or reacting to — AI, and what are they asking for?

A sentence or two, please.

The work itself

How is AI changing how work gets done — including how your board and partners deliver services?

A sentence or two, please.

Who would lead this work, and what makes them a fit?

The ideal lead is optimistic about AI for workers, AI-engaged, comfortable with ambiguity, collaborative, and open-minded — not necessarily your director, and they don't need to be technical. Name, role, 1–2 sentences.

Please tell us who would lead.

Here's the commitment.

  • Monthly co-design team meeting (remote)
  • The monthly system convening / webinar
  • Co-hosting two community convenings — early input and late-stage vetting — with local workers and employers (CWA co-designs and facilitates these with you; convening costs and participant stipends are covered)
  • Two in-person design sessions at milestone moments
  • Quarterly check-ins with EDD/LWDA
  • Sharing local labor-market data and what you learn with the group
  • Naming a primary delegate and a backup so the seat stays consistent

Your board's active engagement runs about 12 months.

Who's confirming, and on what date?

Who could you pull in — and what's already underway?

Key local partners (community college, CBOs, employers, labor, adult ed…), and any AI / automation / sector work already happening. 2–3 sentences.

A couple of sentences, please.

Why your board — and anything that would help or hinder?

Why you want to be a co-design partner, plus anything we should know. 2–3 sentences.

A couple of sentences, please.

Got a local project we could showcase?

We're gathering local AI and workforce projects to potentially feature at Meetings of the Minds in September — even if you're not selected as a co-design partner.

Tell us about it

Project name, a 1–2 sentence description, and the lead's name. List more than one if you've got them.

Would someone be open to presenting it at Meetings of the Minds?

Ready to send?

We read every response for the strength of your co-design lead, your commitment, your partnerships, and your access to affected workers. We'll be in touch by the selection date.

Thank you — we've got it.

Your Expression of Interest is in. We'll follow up by the selection date. In the meantime, watch for the EOI webinar — and thanks for helping shape California's response to AI.
